Blog Future

Time for a blog refresh. I have been writing about various leadership content and focused on our cultural transitions. I am at the point of thinking that the last thing the world needs is more leadership commentary. There are exhaustive libraries of books to highlight best practices, theories and stepwise plans towards success. You don’t need mine too.

However, what might be more interesting to my team and the world at large, is what I am actually thinking about. What are the major events of the day in our business?   What are the observations, experiences and next steps gleaned?

I have been asked to speak to a group next month and when I inquired about the topic that might interest the meeting I was told that speakers fall into two categories: educational and storytelling. They were particularly interested in my story and the story of our organization.

This is what I intend to tell. In the first person, as it happens. Not every detail will be possible as names, customers, product specifics and certain other facts may need to be excluded for various reasons.  Yet, the storytelling will be as honest and open as I can possibly be.  This is the only way I know to be.

Over the past few years I have developed a strong habit of journaling. It now comes easily to me and I can always find something to write about. The leadership content I had been writing was beginning to feel overthought, calculated and laborious to create. I have a feeling writing what naturally flows will be better all the way around.
