Humility in Retirement Parties
We had an employee at HSI Sensing retire today after working for us for more than 15 years. As each employee retires we give them a gift and have a little reception, which always includes cake. One of the Posey family members makes a few remarks to the group assembled and thanks the retiree publicly. This is usually followed by reminiscences and hugs before they leave for their next life stage.
I am always encouraged and humbled by retirement parties. The fact that people choose to make this their life’s work and their choice to spend their career working in our business fills my heart.
Of course, I love the business. I was raised with it. I have been around it my entire life, spent time here as a child, heard it talked about constantly. The government has declared that corporations are people after all, and as such I almost feel like the company is one of my siblings. But when other people that do not have that same relationship to the business show tremendous care and dedication, it humbles me greatly.
I take the culture we develop here as a very personal responsibility. I am very grateful that others identify with that culture and are willing to spend their precious time working here.
