The Hustle Includes Field Trips
My son earned three different reward trips based on his AR point total. Based on the number of books he read and tests taken, he was able to attend three separate events. I offered that I would attend one of his choosing. He invited me to attend his day at Heyday. Heyday is an entertainment space where you can bowl, play laser tag, arcade games and mini-golf. This event required a full day out of the office in order to attend. I offered, he chose, so I honored.
I work really hard at my job. I want desperately to drive towards success. This drive makes me willing to make sacrifices, make tough decisions and consumes much of my energy. It consumes my thoughts and asks much of me. For which my reward is monetary. Plus, there is a level of satisfaction that comes as a reward.
My family deserves the same level of effort and intentionality. When Bennett asked me to attend this event I immediately booked it into the calendar. I then had to work extra hard to protect that time. I stayed late the day before. I worked for weeks ahead to free that time. I worked afterwards to make up for the time off.
Heyday was a ton of fun! It was a special day for the two of us. While there we did everything on offer. I was 100% present in those moments, refusing to be distracted by business. The reciprocal of how I behave at work.
For me the hustle includes my family time. They deserve it! Thus, the hustle absolutely includes field trips.
